Founder and Managing Director, Mr. N.K. Gupta has 40+ years of experience in business and technology development. He developed the first commercially viable microporous membranes in India. Prior to founding mdi in 1976, he had no exposure of producing or using membranes and he single handedly developed the complete membrane technology. Currently he spearheads the research and development at mdi and provides the focus to constantly develop and manufacture customized and innovative products.
Mr. Gupta received his BE degree from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in Electronics Engineering in 1970 and MS in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, USA. From 1971-1975 he worked as a Design Engineer (MOS ICs) with American Microsystem Inc (AMI), Santa Clara, USA. AMI was one of the founding companies of the Silicon Valley and Mr. Gupta performed excellent work in helping develop the first calculators.
Mr. Gupta has been awarded Outstanding Engineer Award by Governor of Haryana for his pioneering work in developing membranes in India.
Ashawant Gupta, Ph.D. Executive Director
Dr. Ashawant Gupta is the Executive Director at Advanced Microdevices Pvt. Ltd. and has 20+ years experience in Industry, Research, and Teaching. He has been with mdi since 1997 and is responsible for Administration and Production.
Dr. Gupta received BE degree in Electrical Engineering from MSRIT, Bangalore in 1989 and MS and Ph.D. in 1991 and 1997, respectively, both in Microelectronics, from Santa Clara University, California, USA. He received the Ross Tucker Master's Memorial Award in 1991 for his Master's Thesis from the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers. He has published and presented over 20 papers in international journals and conferences.
Prior to joining mdi, Ashawant worked as a Researcher/Engineer at Hitachi Central Research Laboratory, Kokubunji, Tokyo, Japan and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Santa Clara, California, USA.
Rajni Kant, MS (Electrical Engineering), MBA
Mr. Rajni Kant has 35+ years of experience in industry and heads the associate company of mdi, Micro Instruments Co., which manufactures high-reliability fractional horsepower motors for use in automotive and appliance industry. At mdi, Mr. Kant is responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering Department directing the development of plastic injection moulding tools and production machinery.
Mr. Kant received BE in Electrical Engineering from BITS, Pilani in 1972, Masters in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, USA in 1973 and MBA from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California USA in 1977. He worked in the semiconductor companies Fairchild and Raytheon in California for more than 10 years as a Product Line Manager before returning to India in 1986 to set up Micro Instruments Co. He has been granted 4 US Patents.
Vivek Sheel Gupta, B.Sc., MBA
Mr. Vivek Sheel has been associated with Advanced Microdevices Pvt. Ltd. for more than 15 years and has vast experience in the use of microporous membrane filters in Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences. He heads Marketing and is also responsible for Sales in the North India Region. He holds a B.Sc. and MBA from Kurukshetra University.
Jitendra Jindal, BE (Electrical Engineering)
Mr. Jitendra Jindal is associated with mdi for more than 15 years. He has deep understanding of microfiltration membranes and their applications. He is responsible for Sales in Western and Central India. He has handled various filter validation projects for conventional as well as complex molecules, drug delivery formulations and recombinant proteins.
Jitendra received BE degree in Electrical Engineering from Maharashtra University in 1993. He is a member of PDA (Parentral Drug Association).
