Microbial Fermentation Broth Clarification

Microbial fermentation broth clarification may involve removal of host cells from the fermenter broth for extracellular proteins which can then be recovered from the filtrate.

In case of intracellular proteins, the cells are separated from the broth and lysed, and the lysate is clarified to remove cell debris and other suspended contaminants prior to downstream processing.
